Windows Autopilot is a collection of technologies used to set up and pre-configure new devices, getting them ready for productive use. You can also use Windows Autopilot to reset, repurpose, and recover devices. This solution enables an IT department to achieve the above with little to no infrastructure to manage, with a process that’s easy and simple.
Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS)
Before there was Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security, there were four separate products.
Microsoft EMS includes four components:
Azure Active Directory Premium
Azure Rights Management
Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics
Overall, you can think of Microsoft EMS as a device-management and virtual-identity-management suite. In a cloud-based world where employees want to work from all of their devices, Microsoft EMS allows IT maximum security and control.
Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) is a Windows product that enables the management, deployment and security of devices and applications across an enterprise. Amongst other potential uses, administrators will commonly use MECM for endpoint protection, patch management and software distribution. MECM is part of the Microsoft System Center systems management suite.
An Amazon WorkSpace is a cloud-based virtual desktop that can act as a replacement for a traditional desktop. A WorkSpace is available as a bundle of operating system, compute resources, storage space, and software applications that allow a user to perform day-to-day tasks just like using a traditional desktop.
Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD)
Windows Virtual Desktop is a desktop and app virtualisation service that runs on the cloud. The cloud Microsoft is talking about is Azure, and running WVD on Azure gives the following benefits:
A scalable multi-session Windows 10 (full) deployment
Virtualisation of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
Windows 7 Virtual Desktops with free Extended Security Updates (for enterprises that haven’t migrated to Windows 10)
Bring your existing Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Windows Server desktops and apps to any computer
Virtualisation of both desktops and apps
Ability to manage Windows 10, Windows Server, and Windows 7 desktops and apps with a unified management experience
Along with the features listed above, running WVD on Azure also comes with Microsoft’s security protocols and elements to help create a secure network that is always being updated with the latest in security enhancements.
Citrix Cloud is a platform that hosts and administers Citrix services. It connects to your resources through connectors on any cloud or infrastructure you choose (on-premises, public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud). It allows you to create, manage, and deploy workspaces with apps and data to your end-users from a single console.
